Le United States Institute of Peace est un institut fédéral crée en 1984 par le Congrès des États-Unis. Il présente un point de vue officiel mais pluriel sur les relations internationales vues depuis les USA, et se fixe comme objectif de favoriser la prévention, la gestion et la résolution pacifique des conflits internationaux. Le site de l'institut vous permet d'accéder à de nombreuses ressources :

- des raports en texte intégral (formats HTML et PDF) : « Ijtihad : Reinterpreting Islamic Principles for the Twenty-first Century » ; « Islamist Politics in Iraq after Saddam Hussein » ; « The Israeli Military and Israel's Palestinian Policy : From Oslo to the Al Aqsa Intifada » ;

- une lettre d'information (formats HTML et PDF) : « Peace Watch On-line » ;

- une bibliothèque virtuelle, « The Margarita S. Studemeister Digital Library in International Conflict Management » composée de trois collections de documents numérisés en texte intégral : « Peace Agreements Digital Collection » publiant les traités de paix établis depuis 1989 pour plus de 40 pays ou régions du monde ; « Truth Commissions Digital Collection » publiant les décrés ou textes législatifs fixant la création de commissions vérité ou instances comparables dans le monde entiers ; « The Oral Histories Project on Stability Operations » proposant le texte intégral des transcriptions de témoignages oraux de personnes impliquées dans des « opérations de stabilités ». Cependant, on regrettera pour cette dernière collections l'impossibilité de remonter à la source sonore de ces transcriptions.

- un annuaire intitulé « Guide to Specialists » destiné à faciliter l'accès aux experts de l'Institut pour les professionnels ayant besoin d'une expertise sur les questions de politique internationale ;

- enfin un dossier documentaire « Focus on Iraq » sélectionne pour vous les ressources de l'Institut en relation avec cette thématique et vous renvois vers de nombreuses ressources extérieurs.

Le site est en langue anglaise et comporte un moteur de recherche interne.

    The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has appointed Beth Cole as dean of institutional affairs for its Academy for International Conflict Management and Peacebuilding. Cole will play a key leadership role in guiding coordination of training services between USIP and the federal government, especially the Departments of Defense and State, and nongovernmental and international organizations (NGOs, IOs).
